BYOF Chalk Paint Workshop

Join me Saturday, May 14 (10:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.) as I will be hosting a workshop on furniture restoration.  The fee for this class will be $60.00 and will include all supplies you need to refinish your piece of furniture, along with lunch and will be held at the following location:

Joe’s Workshop

13915 N. Harvey Ave.

Edmond, OK

405-531-0153

My workshop will include an introduction to chalk painting, distressing, and waxing your own piece of small furniture. We will learn an economical way to achieving the chalk paint finish by mixing our own. There are many great chalk paints you can purchase, but this class will give you an inexpensive alternative. Chalk paint is the latest craze when it comes to furniture painting because no sanding or priming is required.

This workshop will be a fun, informative hands-on class.

In this class we will cover:

1)      Different types of paint (chalk, latex, spray paint).

2)      Different types of finishes and stains

3)      How to distress and achieve an antique look

4)      Using glazes and waxes for a proper finish

5)      Furniture painting tips and tricks

I will have several colors to choose from and I will send you an email with a list of what I have. If there’s a particular color you want to use and I don’t have, I will be sure to provide it for you. Be sure to wear clothing you don’t mind getting paint on.

Looking forward to seeing everyone next week. We are going to have a lot of fun!

Cynthia Volpe - Due to unforeseen circumstances, I've been out of the creative loop for a while and I'm very sorry that I just now saw your comment. The good news is I'm back and I'm looking forward to posting a lot of new ideas and things I have learned. Thanks for the comment about the dresser. If you have patience and determination, you an restore the pieces yourself. There's something about breathing life into an old piece of furniture. :)

I will have to check out your gallery. :)
Taylor Hicken - I'm honestly in love with the green refurbished dresser, it's so modern and cute. I've got a few pieces of furniture that need restoration to them. Hopefully, there's a local company that'd be able to come in and restore the old pieces of furniture in our home. http://www.tri-countyfurniture.com/furniture-restoration-services-cincinnati
Max Jones - I've been looking into taking a specialty furniture restoration class, and I think something like this sounds like a lot of fun! I have a lot of antique furniture I've collected over the years, and I would love to be able to work on it on my own. Being able to do the chalk paint like you talked about to help with my specialty furniture restoration projects could add something to my pieces that wasn't ever there before! Thanks for the suggestion! http://www.lugosupholstery.com/gallery
